MEDIA ADVISORY: YOUNG OHIOANS AND STUDENTS TO HOST STATEWIDE PRESS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCING LONG-TERM MOVEMENT TO BUILD STUDENT POWER
OHIO – While Ohio is battling targeted attacks on voting, free speech, education, LGBTQ+ youth, and abortion, young Ohioans across the state are taking action. On Sunday, February 18th, over a hundred everyday young people will come together from different student organizations, college campuses, and cities from across the state to promote their shared vision for Ohio's future called the Ohio Young People's Platform (OYPP). The press conference will feature student speakers from Ohio State University, Miami University, Case Western Reserve University, and the University of Akron, who will provide insights into the platform’s mission, vision, and strategy for building long-term progressive power in Ohio.

Background: The Ohio Young People’s Platform (OYPP) is a political platform shaped by young Ohioans that lays out a proactive vision for Ohio’s future that centers the voices, experiences, and interests of young people from different walks of life. Students will use the platform to guide collective, strategic action across the state to achieve concrete changes and improvements across communities in Ohio through issue campaigns, engaging candidates, and holding elected officials accountable on the issues that matter to young Ohioans.
